    3. This stood them in good stead until the computer/word processor appeared on the scene, when the world and his wife started typing their own stuff. This development worked well for the Biologists in my husband's office. Suddenly he did not have to spend weeks waiting for the head secretary to arrange for his paper to be typed. She was the kind of civil servant people love to hate. Cutting and pasting and editing was much easier.Soon he could produce his own graphs and tables. The former had required weeks of waiting for his turn to come up with the draftsman. Wes grumbled when Catherine and I bought the scanner but he now uses it constantly for his contract work to produce overheads and scan in photos of sites he is studying. Draftsmen and secretaries are largely a thing of the past in many government offices. Their numbers are greatly reduced. This stood them in good stead until the computer/word processor appeared on the scene, when the world and his wife started typing their own stuff. Didn't you find this, working in a school office, Bubbles, that the teaching staff suddenly started bringing in documents they had prepared at home, wanting the office staff to just make a million copies, even though the document looked like C*** and you didn't want to be associated with it?
