    3. I would like to think that once the bombing was over, we did help the Germans. Someone mentioned the "eye for an eye" policy earlier (I think it was on this list). That is the Old Testament philosophy. I prefer the New Testament "turn the other cheek". And forgive thine enemeny 70 time seven, or whatever it is. If we don't have reconciliation, we may as well pack up altogether. You are right, Jim, they did bomb our chippie, and it's a pity it came to that because both Germany and Japan seem to be achieving their aims without any bombing these days - just by economic strength. 3. It WAS a scouser who joked about bombing chippy's, you know. Stan Boardman, I believe. Now my policy is if they bomb you once then you bomb them 70 times and they MIGHT think twice about doing it again. Then when they need bread make them starve. That way they, and others, think twice. Let them eat cake! And I doubt that me complementing such rubbish as neighbours, young doctors and home and away will have the slightest effect on English/australian relations. Or that, even with their mentality, they will take offence at their educational programmes being ribbed. Still, if that's your opinion that's your right.
