Hi Bubbles! Not only UK houses have l3 stairs!...I also have the same...though my staircase is wide...and the surface of each step is also deep...so that one's foot fits it just fine....I also have 7 stairs to my family room which is over the garage...Had no 'trouble with the knees' though when we bought it l6 years ago.
