May I suggest a large tin tray, you could sit on it and slide down the stairs. I know what you mean, I sometimes have to pluck up courage before trying the first step in a morning - I have to hold on tight to the banister as I've been know to go head over elbow. That's a good idea. My stairs are VERY steep and also VERY narrow, far narrower than my big feet which means that on the way up I'm like a belerina on my toes [very tiring] and coming down my toes miss the step completely and I jar myself on my heels. Oh, joy, oh, bliss!
