We have a Cypriot type of turnip which I mash with the carrots and tastes no different. It's called Koulumbra - well, that's how I pronounce it. It may be Kohlrabi in english. When I made the corned been hash last night I was VERY lazy! I bought a bag of ready chopped carrot and turnip from Morison's! It was so quick I couldn't believe it. I remember we used to buy 'pot herbs' when I lived at home with my mother, but when I was married I didn't like them - never trusted that they were fresh. However, I think I could get used to buying prepared raw vegetables now I also used Instant mashed potato last night, and I do actually like this! Hi, a bit late in contributing but hubby had 2 nights off so I wanted to spend time with him. We grew kohlrabi on our allotment last year & quite like it as an alternative to swede or turnip, it's nice grated raw with a salad too.
