    3. Jerky is meat dehydrated to a dry state which can be stored on cupboard shelves. It was a great way to treat meat to carry for long distance travel during the pioneer days. Its fantastic as a snack or to take on long voyages. We jerky beef once in awhile, but deer is our main jerky meat. I have to agree with another post of yours about deer. It is very good food source, but the nursing homes are afraid that tinted meat could cause a law suit. Deer meat for stews are terrific too, I especially like the roast's. John likes the steaks. We do up a lot of hamburger too, especially when we can't figure out where certain cuts should go. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim SHARPE" <sharpe@britishlibrary.net> To: <GEN-FRIENDS-L@rootsweb.com> What on earth is 'Jerky'. Sounds slightly obscene. Jim Sharpe Shaw, Oldham. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
