I don't know if I'm spelling that right, hubby was stationed there, somewhere close to Carterton? He was wondering if the base is still active, and in what county the two can be found. He was thinking Strafford, but says if that's Will Shakespeare's place than it can't be Stafford [Strafford?] Wants to know if you 'English blokes' knows anything???? Also, he saw the image of the black pudding, and was wondering, is that blood pudding? The grand daughter ran gagging from the room---says if anyone send that to us, the DOGS were going to get a feast!!!! Hey--I'm just the middle [woman] here! Don't rip me a new one! Thanks for the pictures Marj--they were very well taken! America the Beautiful Vicky B. cobolt47@frontiernet.net Iowa--USA --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi Vicki You were asking about Brize Norton and Carterton. Well, surprise, surprise I used to live there. My husband was stationed at Brize for 5 years in the 70's. It is still very much alive and kicking, a very important place. It is situated in Oxfordshire, but is not too far from Stratford on Avon, Shakespears birthplace. Stratford is in Warwickshire. The last time I was down there was eight years ago when I went to a funeral of the daughter of two friends. It had changed quite a lot from we lived down there, better road access etc. But I have fond memories of my time there. Hope this has answered your question. Cheers, Pam. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vicky Ballantine" <cobolt47@frontiernet.net> To: <GEN-FRIENDS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 26, 2002 12:56 AM Subject: [GEN-FRIENDS] Brize Norton Air Field > I don't know if I'm spelling that right, hubby was stationed there, > somewhere close to Carterton?
