    3. The only Radio 2 programmes I listen to are [1] the one which gives the free pens. Don McLean is an old pal [and he gives out the free pens] and [2] the Lost Friends programme [I can't remember what it's called] by Steve Wright [I think}. 1. [GEN-FRIENDS] My neighbour
    2. Brian
    3. My neighbour has fallen out with me. He returned the screwdriver he borrowed and [not smoking] walked in as though he was a friend rather than a detested weirdo. "What are you doing", he asked. I replied, "Whatever it is it is no concern of yours and please don't think that because you borrowed a screwdriver that makes us friends. Now, if you will excuse me, I am busy and need to get on". This is the neighbour with wardrobes full of women's dresses, etc. Makes me shudder. Pam knows my feelings about these perverts. 3. Brian, I suspect that this is not strictly true. I suspect you of listening to some programmes on radio 2. We listen to it on Sunday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Mostly we have Radio 3 (the old Third Programme) on in the car, and in the house too, and hear some of our favourite music on there. Switch it off when they get too "modern" (modern classical music hasn't come in to its own yet) Marj > > Because I go to bed early I switch off Radio 4 even though it is the only > radio station for me, just because of that programme. 3. The Archers is still going and in this mornings Mail on Sunday there is a interview with one of the past writers who has just written a book named "Humbridge" which is about it. The present editor is a feminist who he said has turned it from a country village into a suburb of Birmingham. She intruduced a Asian lady solicitor who in the course of a couple of weeks was so thoroughly integrated that she was carrying indian sweetmeats into the cowshed. The editor also introduced a new black character who married one of the established cast, they had a child but no mention at all was made of colour. She also would have no mention of the troubles about hunts until forced to. His point being that village life just isn't how she wants to portray it. It was slipped in that she is also a lesbian.
