    3. No, I have none to give even after almost 29 years of parenting. I like George's idea of the duct tape and rope though. Sue* PS: It has happened, the little darlings got home 30 minutes ago. 3. Terrific idea. I have plenty of duct tape but no rope, guess I'll have to bind their hands and feet with the duct tape instead. It will probably hold better than the rope anyway. 3. Whist I'm reading and answering I'm listening to a free Romantic Classics CD from the Daily Mail. It's very good , Puccini's Tosca,Mozart piano concertos,Verdi, Lizt, Chopin, etc. If any else has it look at the first track; Beethoven, Fur Elize, Vladimir Ruso, Organ. It's a piano solo. I'm feeling quite sad listening to Solveig's Song by Greig. Jim Sharpe Shaw, Oldham, UK

    3. I think the teaching profession was ruined years ago when the authorities willfully undermined the authority of teachers. Mind you younger teachers of the time contributed with their silly modern ideas and becoming over familiar with their pupils. The former respect in which the profession was held will I fear never be regained. 3. Talking about kids; Francesca my granddaughter is taking an exam today for theatrical singing. She is to perform three songs from Les Miserables and South Pacific. For some utterly stupid reason the examiners require that she wears costume which her mother has had to hire from a costumiers at no little expense. Francesca has never been in a musical play in her life but enjoys singing in the school choir and the Oldham Schools Choir as well as playing in brass and wind bands for school and the Oldham Lyceum on cornet and bassoon. Her school has acquired a basson costing £4,500 to replace the clapped out one she has been using heretofore. Her cornet is her own. 3. You're right Marj, in a way. All of our schools are air conditioned but I just think having the long holiday is a throw back from the 'olden days.' Back then parents needed their children to help with the planting and harvesting of crops during the summer months. The long summer holiday has nothing to do with teacher's tenure. Our kids also get the Monday after our Thanksgiving holiday off because it's the first day of deer season hunting. I imagine that's for a similar reason, families needed enough meat to last for the winter season.
