God Angela 50f would kill me. We had a lovely villa one year in The Algarve and Dorothy used to moan like hell every night when I put the air conditioning on because it made such a racket. Then another year we were in Turkey on our way to Pam... something where the hot springs are and we had to overnight in a industrial inland town. It was so hot that I rang reception and asked for one of the big fans I'd seen in the lobby. They protested that they only had two, I rejoined I only want one. A bell boy brought one up. When my daughter came into our room streaming she said good grief how did you get that I might stay in here all night. Actually Child Protective Services (CPS) took the little girl away from the mother because of drugs. The court declared that CPS was to deliver the child to the grandmother. I guess they thought it had been done. No one followed up on the case untill the mother reappeared saying that she had gone through rehab and wanted to visit her child. Grandmother says she doesn't know where the child is at. No seems to know where she is. The fact is no visit was ever made and no follow up was made to see if the little girl was ok. Not one, in over a year. In case those of you in other parts of the world don't know. The govenor of Florida is Jeb Bush. George W. Bush's brother. This has been a major scandal needless to say. We're hearing that this is not the first time CPS in Florida has had a major breakdown in protecting the children in their care. Let us know how the nylon rope and duct tape work Sue! Maybe I can use it in my classroom next year. LOL!!! (just a joke folks) Martha

Sue Just move to the state of Florida here in the USA. You could get away with anything. They just realized that they lost a 4 year old little girl. She has been missing 15 months now. Oh by the way. Nylon rope should be strong enough don't you think ;-) Martha Texas
Hi frances, the temperature is starting to climb already but no humidity YET ! that's the killer as there's no respite at night either. They always measure the temp in the shade, which I think is stupid the hottest they claim is about 45 deg.C but I know it has been 50 Deg in August. For approx 3 months is will always be over 40 deg. It wouldn't be so bad if it only lasted for 6 weeks or so, that I could bear. Mike will have it far worse, but in Saudi most houses have air conditioning. My husband refuses to put it saying it's bad for our health. The heat I know is bad for my health. Oh Angela! I'm absolutely 'flabbergasted' how you can possibly function for 3 months with temperatures of 40 and 50 degrees...PLUS the humidity!!!!! Of course...it would affect YOUR health...and your nerves!! attempting to keep your children 'happily occupied' in the house for the daytime hours...and then NO respite all night to somehow regain your physical and mental 'composure' for another day of the same thing.........Oh Angela... I'm so very sorry to hear that your husband feels that air conditioning is bad for your health..??? You don't have to keep it at a 'freezing' temp..!! If you only had to be concerned with finding some 'form of relief/comfort zone' for yourself.. you might be able to 'cope' for 3 months...BUT... for you and the children!!..Impossible to stay sane...in my books Angela.... I'm very sorry to say...in my very humble opinion Angela..that I really don't think your husband could even begin to cope with the heat AND THE CHILDREN...on a continual daily basis for 3 months Bless you Angela!! ...you are a brick and a super MOM! Very interested to hear about Francesca and her music, Jim. What songs is she singing? I love all those musicals you mention. We love Brass Band music too and have a very big collection. Life isn't the same since the closure of the pits caused us to lose most of our bands. They used to come frequently, all of them, to Southport Arts Centre. Something else we lost around the same time were the Welsh Choirs, mostly from mining communities. While I am glad people don't have to down pits any more for a living, these products of the mining communities are a sad loss. I agree with you and was only being facetious. A week or so at a summer camp would be nice for the boys (and me too!) but no longer than that. I'd miss the little imps and they would be horribly home sick. Sue* ----- Original Message ----- Like Marj's daughter I spent 3 months on a camp in North Carolina - wealthy Jewish camp. Some of the kids were there the whole time their parents off to the Far East and other places - on Parents Day there were Rolls Royce's etc I felt sorry for some of the kids they really needed love not Summer Camp. Angela, Time for you to stomp your English feet and show your temper! I remember how badly you suffered last summer from the heat and humidity. Does Kostas work in air conditioning??? Tom isn't a big fan of air conditioning either except to sleep but I can't do without it. Two weeks ago we had a very hot and humid spell (over 90°f), the ac wasn't turned on yet and I literally passed out in my dining room. We have a 25 X 5 feet deep pool for the kids which certainly helps but the thrill of it wears off quickly. I can't imagine how much crankier they would be without the relief of the ac all summer. Do you think Kostas would agree to just ONE window unit, in one room for you and the kids? I always thought air conditioned air was healthier as it has filters on it that cleans the air. Remember that fish you worked so hard to prepare for him several months ago? He owes you a favor :) Sue* ----- Original Message ----- > Hi frances, > > the temperature is starting to climb already but no humidity YET ! > that's the killer as there's no respite at night either. > They always measure the temp in the shade, which I think is stupid > the hottest they claim is about 45 deg.C but I know it has been 50 Deg > in August. > For approx 3 months is will always be over 40 deg. > It wouldn't be so bad if it only lasted for 6 weeks or so, that I could > bear. > > Mike will have it far worse, but in Saudi most houses have air conditioning. > My husband refuses to put it saying it's bad for our health. > The heat I know is bad for my health. > > Best wishes > angela --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
