Not at all, feeling great at the moment. the weather is absolutely superb. We've been shopping at ASDA and COSTCO all day, not my favourite occupation but Dorothy doesn't drive. Costco had Velvet toilet rolls on offer in 36 roll packs (Marged I'm listening to Mascagni's Cavaleria Rusticana Intermezzo)) I read somewhere that they're Prince Charles's preferred product so if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me. Dorothy filled her trolley whilst I sojourned in the coffee shop. Then we went to Asda where I listened to a local school band playing in the foyer. They only looked about ten years old but they were very good and were collecting for funds to help them on their way to London to play for the Queen. By the way Marged, Francesca got 72% in her Theatrical Singing exam. After that Brian we retired to Barbara's Chippie in Shaw village for plate meat pie, chips and peas for lunch. On the way back I noticed the pub in Market Street is a Robinson's house so we sampled a swift pint and a half twice. I've not had Robinson's bitter for quite some years, very palatable. Mickey mouse re-appeared , this time downstairs in the out house where he had a nibble at Dorothy's chocolate biscuits. She would be satisfied with nothing less than poison bait in the utility room and the garage, but I intend to get another Pestclear 2000 for in the utility room. I cleared it with the makers because I was concerned that two might beat together, conflict and produce zero output. Like out of phase if you are technically minded. They said no way but I always have the sneaking suspicion that they might just be salesmen. The spell check just got Mascagni as Lasagna and I Fear it also is a Goddam Yankee because it spelled favourite as favorite. I've heard of Mr Gil Favor, has anyone else. Quite correct Marj - the film was made in Downham apparently - I don't know the area. It is over 40 years since I was in Wensley I just had an idea the movie was shot there. I was reading an interview with Alan Bates - he thought it was shot in the Midlands! it was his first major role. The boy actor never acted again (a local natural) and the girl sadly died in adulthood, so he said. Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: Marged To: GEN-FRIENDS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, May 31, 2002 4:10 PM Subject: Re: [GEN-FRIENDS] Music No, sorry - I have to claim the location for Lancashire! My son in law, a Dalesman, tried to claim them but in fact, the film was made in the Trough of Boland, about an hour's drive from Southport. I can't recall the exact name of the village, but they did a programme about it on the telly a while back. The children were mostly local children, although one or two did become actors. No, you can't compare one with the other, but the Lloyd Webber version is actually set in the deep South of America, and the Hayley Mills character has some sort of a romantic link, much more grown up - and her name is Bluebird or Skylark or something. Marj Well the original was a dramatic movie so one really can't compare them the background music was a hit though and is still played. I believe it was shot in Wensley - Always remember the 'Sally Army' playing in the square and of course Hayley Mills and Alan Bates, with great character actors. Black and white was just right for those rainy Dales. They don't make 'em like that now. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
