With permission to pass these on. Brian, you'll love some of these!!! "Linda Templeton" <freeman@triton.net> <LIVING-L@rootsweb.com> Cat's Resolutions My human will never let me eat her pet hamster, and I am at peace with that. A warm pizza is not a good place for a nap. I will remember that if I bite the cactus, it will bite back. If I must give a present to my human's overnight guests, my toy mouse is much more socially acceptable than a big live cockroach, even if it isn't as tasty. I will not be miffed at my human all day and then kiss her on the nose at 2:00 a.m. to tell her that she is forgiven and can now pet me. I will not walk on the keyboard when my human is writing important emio gnaioerp ga3qi4 taija3tgv aa35 messages. I will not stick my paw into any container to see if there is something in it. If I do, I will not hiss and scratch when my human has to shave me to get the rubber cement out of my fur. I will not complain that my butt is wet and that I am thirsty after sitting in my water bowl. We will not play Herd of Thundering Wildebeests Stampeding Across the Plains of the Serengeti over my humans' bed while they're trying to sleep. I will not perch on my human's chest in the middle of the night and stare into her eyes until she wakes up. I will not knead my male human's groin at 2 a.m. with claws extended. It seems to cause him some discomfort and he wakes up all grumpy. I will not use the bathtub to store live mice for late-night snacks. I will not eat large numbers of assorted bugs, then come home and puke them up so the humans can see that I'm getting plenty of roughage. I will not lean way over to drink out of the tub, fall in, and then pelt right for the box of clumping cat litter. (It took FOREVER to get the stuff out of my fur.) I will not stand on the bathroom counter, stare down the hall, and growl at NOTHING after my human has finished watching The X-Files. I will not leap into my human's chair which she has temporarily vacated, and then bite my human on the bum when she sits back down. I will not puff my entire body to twice its size for no reason after my human has finished watching a horror movie. I will not bite my human on the rear while she is sitting on the Big White Drinking Bowl. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Pam Please continue below. Subject: just for laughs A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, "When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip." So next Sunday he took the monsignor’s advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon his return to his office after mass, he found the following note on the door: 1. Sip the Vodka, don’t gulp. 2. There are 10 commandments, not 12. 3. There are 12 disciples, not 10. the bread at the Last Supper he said,"Take this and eat it for it is my body." He did not say, "Eat me" 12. The Virgin Mary is not called "Mary with the Cherry," 13. I think its worth reading the recent 'truth' about this affair Marj (as serialised in telegraph) apparently the Queen was really very helpful after Diana's death she immediately made aircraft available etc contrary to the press reports. Her grouse about the flag was something along the lines "If mummy or I died it still wouldn't be at half mast" ever the traditionalist. But she comes out much better than you think in this matter. incidentally I hope I didn't start an anti-royal string as myself I am much in favour of the monarchy as upholders of pageantry and tradition. Something to cling onto when others have nothing as can be seen by world events. This new breed are of course quite irreverent whereas I believe the Queen to be a devout Christian aware of her responsibilities which were thrust upon her at an early age. I like the story about Whitlam the Aussie premiere though - when he brought her a sheepskin rug - after a few drinks the Queen wrapped herself in it on the floor stroking it sensuously - Whitlam remarked that she had good legs and also backed off from the idea of trashing the monarchy! Wise lady. Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: Marged To: GEN-FRIENDS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 9:26 PM Subject: Re: [GEN-FRIENDS] England and St George. I went off them all after the way they treated Diana. She needed guidance from a firm mother-in-law (or mother) but it was not given. What finished me off was the scene at Balmoral on the Sunday when I first heard Diana was dead - when the clergyman at the Church they had all been at stated "We did not mention her by name, but we said prayers for the dead". Diana's sons were there in that Church, and their mother's name SHOULD have been mentioned. And then all that stuff about no flag flying at Buckingham Palace etc. Ok, they put it right when the People showed they would not put up with it, but for me, it was too late. You know, people had started to say that it was wrong for the Kennedy Dynasty to have one son after another voted in as President. They said, no family is so wonderful that THREE of its sons could be brilliant enough to be President of the USA. And yet, we are expected to think that being born into the Royal Family is enough to make one fit to be the Monarch. It just doesn't make sense. Marj --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
