Marged...I note that in your conversation with Sue about her 'wonderful dream' of buying a place in France...in the are of Brittany...you mentioned that your favourite place there...other than Paris...was La Rochelle.... Would you have any pictures of there..?? The reason for my curiosity is that I 'feel' that my maternal ancestors would have left France from there when they came to Canada in l7l2...It would be nice to have pics of what it is like now... Thanks a bunch if you can help me out here. Frances.. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Jim! Have just your posting regarding Marged's lovely book case in the picture...and...my comment to say I'd like to bring one of my bookcases from one of my spare bedrooms...down to my family/living room...As you 'found my comment interesting'...I also now find your 'guilty feeling' about having all your books and C/D's ...'cluttering the living room'...and that you feel you maybe should move the C/D's into your computer room.... Jim...why would you be feeling 'guilty' about having what sounds to me like a wonderful and carefully chosen collection of books and C/D's, which you obviously enjoy, in a room where you probably spend a lot of pleasurable time with them??? For me..the move of one of the bookcases to my living room will be to 'make my head save my heels'...like climbing that flight of stairs to the second floor...which at times seems to be 'getting longer'... ha ha... Hi Marj no we've never been to La Rochelle but it's on my list of places to see. The trouble with driving from up north to down south & then on the other side of the channel is anathemia to my beloved (driving for a living & all that) & once he's arrived wherever that's it for a week at least! Funny but I'm the one who spent a couple of years driving in Europe whereas he'd never left these shores 'til he met me (apart from army service in N Ireland) but he never encourages me when we get there! I've spent time near Lyon & in the Loire Valley which I loved & want to go back to. Paris I've only seen around midnight whilst risking life & limb in a taxi between 2 rail stations & never again! We were lucky if the driver had 1 hand on the wheel! Sue S > Have you ever been to La Rochelle? Hi Sue I have never been to Lamballe, but know St Malo quite well and it's lovely there, isn't it. Lamballe must be connected to the family of the Princess de Lamballe, friend of Marie Antoinette who was murdered and had all her bits cut off at the beginning of the Revolution. You just keep that dream in front of you and you will get there one day. Have you ever been to La Rochelle? That's my favourite part of France (apart from Paris, of course) Marj > Near to Lamballe WSW of St Malo. Fitted the bill perfectly. In our living room I have two banks of four 4 ft shelves, four on each side of the fireplace. One bank is full of books and the other bank is full of CDs. Frances's comments are interesting because my conscience has recently been troubling me and I've been feeling guilty about cluttering the living room up with my music collection. So I've been considering putting more shelves in my small computer/study room to accommodate my CDs. At present though I'm frazzled helping Brendan with his home move and it looks as though we're in for a spot of decorating because local decorators are quoting silly prices like £800 for hanging paper in three rooms. Paper not included and no painting. Strangely, decorators don't seem to relish painting these days. It should be fairly simple though all the rooms have a dado rail so the paper lengths are only 4 ft.
