On Sunday, December 29th, 2002, the Jewish Genealogical Society of New York will present SUSAN E. KING, the founder of JewishGen, the premier discussion group and website for Jewish genealogists, in a discussion of JewishGen as it is now and where it will be going in the future. The meeting will start at 2 p. m. JewishGen is a non-profit organization and its website hosts: *The Yizkor Book Project, which contains translations of the Memorial Books written about the towns and cities in Eastern Europe whose Jewish populations were annihilated during the Holocaust, *"Shtetlinks," which presents webpages memorializing those towns and cities, *Jewish Records Indexing - Poland, which is providing an on-line searchable database of over 5 million Jewish birth, death and marriage records from pre-WW II Poland *and an ever-increasing number of databases, such as a necrology of Holocaust martyrs. Meetings of the JGSNY, which are held at the Center for Jewish History, are open to the public. Admission for JGSNY members is free with the presentation of a membership card. Non-members will be charged a $3 admission fee. The Center for Jewish History is located at 15 West 16th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
