Because of the Labor Day Holiday, Oklahoma Genealogical Society's regularly-scheduled general meeting will meet instead on Monday, September 9, 2002 at the Wiley Post Historical Building, 2100 North Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK. Dr. Bob Blackburn will speak on "Oklahoma's New History Center--An Update." A native Oklahoman, Dr. Blackburn is currently the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Historical Society where he has been on staff since 1979. He is the author of numerous journal, magazine, and newspaper articles and has written 13 books on Oklahoma, all targeted at the general reading public. He has also written scripts for documentaries, appeared numerous times on the History Channel, and hosted his own television show about Oklahoma history. The meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public and free of cost. Volunteers will be on hand at 5:00 p.m.to assist researchers who need help to start the search for family history or need suggestions about where to look next.
