    1. [GEN-EVENTS-L] Oxfordshire Marriage Index 1538-1837
    2. Paul Gaskell
    3. Hi listers This index is now available for purchase from Oxfordshire Family History Society on CD. It is in Adobe Acrobat format, and hence is compatible with most PCs and AppleMac computers. The index gives most details of both parties of all known marriages for which records exist and which took place between 1538 (the earliest start of Parish Registers) and 1837 for the pre-1974 county of Oxfordshire. Records copied include Parish Registers, Bishops Transcripts and early private transcripts made before some registers had disappeared. Quaker marriages carried out in the Banbury area are also included. It must be remembered that many registers have disappeared and so this index cannot be considered as a complete record of all marriages which took place in the county. It is however the best available and most complete source. Cost :- Indexed on Husband's Name - 30.00 pounds Indexed on Wife's Name - 30.00 pounds Both the above on one CD - 50.00 pounds Send order with cheque payable to Oxfordshire Family History Society to :- Dr H A Kearsey Windmill Place Windmill Road Minchinhampton STROUD Glos GL6 9EE UK NOTE: This index does not include the area of North Berkshire now in Oxfordshire. Any queries, please come back to mee off-list. Paul Gaskell Publicity Officer and Minutes Secretary Oxfordshire Family History Society E-mail : [email protected] Website : www.ofhs.org.uk
