Breakout sessions for the major genealogy software programs start at 11 a.m.; brown bag lunch; computer fundamentals from 1-2 p.m. WHERE: Fairview Park Regional Library, 21255 Lorain Road, Fairview Park OH PROGRAM: Morning: Digital Libraries, Speaker Jean Hoffman: Browse a library shelf on your PC Great Grandpa may be hiding in one of the many books and articles in the library that are now on CD or the internet. There are both transcriptions and scanned images of entire books. Many of these cannot be searched by regular search engines like Google.com. Beyond straight genealogical information, you can find information about life in the time of your ancestors and occasionally a photo showing Grandmother or other women of her time and place. We'll search out the locations of these libraries such as Making of America, Historic Pittsburgh, USGenWeb county sites and commercial CDs plus demonstrate how to search in and use different formats and see some of the goodies they contain. Meetings of the Computer Assisted Genealogy Group-Cleveland Area are held nine times a year at the new Fairview Park Regional Library, 21255 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, Ohio. Normally on the third Saturday of each month; no meetings are scheduled in July, August or December. Guests are welcome.
