OLDE ORANGE COUNTY FAMILY HISTORY DAY As a part of the official Orange County 250th anniversary celebration, the Durham-Orange Genealogical Society (D-OGS) is sponsoring this special event on Saturday, September 13, 2003 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Strudwick Hall in the Hillsborough Presbyterian Church on Tryon Street, Hillsborough, NC. The church is located directly behind the Orange County Historical Museum that is on the corner of Churton and Tryon streets. Convenient parking is available beside the church and across the street. The North Carolina Genealogical Society, The North Carolina Friends Historical Society, Clan Montgomery International, The Trading Path Preservation Association, The Orange County Historical Museum, The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough, the Federation for NC Historical Societies and genealogical and historical groups from the counties of "Olde Orange" (Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Lee, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham and Wake) have been invited to come and answer questions and give you information on what to look for and where to search in the area for your family ties. There will be lots of free handouts and other books and materials of genealogical interest. Bring you family & friends and make a day of it. Hillsborough has a good array of cafes and fast-food restaurants for lunch as well as many interesting historic sites to visit. The Durham-Orange Genealogical Society will also be holding their monthly computer-interest group meeting in Strudwick Hall.
