The Hugh S. Watson, Jr. Genealogical Society Of Tidewater Virginia invites you to attend their Spring Seminar on Saturday, May 3, 2003, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The speaker will be Mary Leigh Boisseau who will discuss "Burned County Records – Sifting Through The Ashes." Have you ever found that your ancestor lived in a county or town where the courthouse burned?…Where plundering soldiers stole the records?…Where nothing can be found but ashes? Mary Leigh Boisseau specializes in Virginia research, but her discussion of burned county records applies to all of us who have encountered missing records in other states as well. The seminar fee is $25.00 per person, registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the morning session starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at noon. There will be a lunch break from noon until 1:00 p.m. with box lunches provided. The afternoon session that will run from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Box lunches are from The Carrot Tree of Williamsburg and the cost is included in the fee. The Willow Bend Booksellers will have a display and photo technicians will demonstrate restoration techniques.
