Listen folks, this isn't rocket science and we aren't rocket scientists. Let KISS it - Keep IT Stupidly Simple List the City, State or Location & Country in the Subject line. I could care less about the FASG, but I may want to go to something in Traverse City, MI if I saw Traverse City, Michigan in the subject line. I just had to read a message twice because the city was listed in the middle of the paragraph. I really don't want to miss something that will be beneficial to me or others. (I forward several of these notes to others closer to where they are being offered.) Most of us genealogy addicts subscribe to more that one list and get between 25 and 100 messages a day. If the location is listed in the subject line, you spend much less time in the mailbox and can get more research done. Hey, isn't that why we go to these GENEALOGICAL EVENTS, to learn how to research more effectively. I really don't mean to open another can of worms here but enough is enough, don't you think. It's not a USA or UK thing, it's simply being courteous and considerate of other busy, name hungry, connecting genealogists. Thanks, Cindy EXAMPLE - GEN-EVENTS-L GTAGS Seminar (Uh, duh, we know it is a GEN EVENT List item, it says so in the From Line) Don't recognize GTAGS as being in US or UK. Must read body of note. (Nothing fast about this, probably missed connecting with 2 other folks searching my Smith's or Johnson's while I was reading this one. HA HA) The Grand Traverse Genealogical Society (GTAGS) will be hosting a one day seminar on Sep 27, 2003 in Traverse City, MI. The speaker will be Henry Z. Jones, FASG. Hank will be making 4 presentations that will include: Tracing the Origins of Early 18th Century Emigrants; Saints, Sinners & an Occasional Horse-thief, When Sources are Wrong and I Don't Chase Dead Germans-They Chase Me. As Paul is the only one that tends to make any postings relating to non-USA this may be a mute point, but why should a location within the USA be stated as only City/State whilst those outside the USA need to state the country. There are many outside the USA who are not familiar with the divisions of states. Does for instance WI stand for Wisconsin or West Indies? Should not all postings contain the country? If this is indented to be an international list then should not the standard be the same for any location? Or is this another case of us (or should I say US) and them? :-) Craig Pickup Genoot Ltd Contact Details: http://www.genoot.com/contact.html Family History Library: http://www.genoot.com/lib/
