    3. The annual German Conference sponsored by the German Interest Group of the Iowa Genealogical Society will feature Marion Wolfert as this year's speaker. She was born and raised in Schaumburg-Lippe, Germany and began her love of genealogy at the age of fourteen with the help of her grandfather. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1966 she lived in Wisconsin for a year and a half and then moved to Salt Lake City. She is the mother of six children and grandmother of sixteen, yet she finds time to make two research trips to Germany every year. Marion's extensive professional qualifications include: Accredited Genealogist since 1979; Volunteered at the European Reference Desk at the Family History for 21 years and presently now on staff part-time Reference Consultant; Co-Author of German Immigrants, Lists of Passengers Bound from Bremen to New York, 1847-1871, four volumes; Author of the Brandenburg Emigration Index. The Conference will be held at the beautiful Des Moines Botanical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday June 21, 2003. It will be a one day event and includes a box lunch. The Iowa Genealogical Library will be open the following Sunday, June 22, especially for the use of those attending the conference.
