Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, March 8, 2008 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Helen Garrison Program: "Cynthia Ann Parker, A Love Story" Our speaker, Helen Garrison, has been the featured storyteller at numerous festivals and events including the Texas State Genealogical Society Conference and the North Fort Worth Historical Society where she performed as Cynthia Ann Parker. She is a member of storytelling organizations in both Texas and Oklahoma, including, but not limited to, the Tarrant Area Guild of Storytellers, the Tejas Storytelling Association, and the Texas Historical Society. Cynthia Ann Parker was taken by Comanche Indians when she was a child and raised as one of their own. The story of this pioneer woman's unusual life shows her deep devotion to the Comanches who became her people. Helen Garrison (Granny G.), dressed in costume, will tell the thrilling story of Cynthia Ann's life in a first person narrative portrayal. Following a short refreshment period, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet. Larry Oliver will present a video and host a discussion on "Global Positioning Systems". East Texas Genealogical Society represent six counties which are Anderson, Gregg, Henderson, Panola, Rusk and Smith counties. ETGS publishes the East Texas Family Records four times a year and a monthly newsletter The Bulletin.
