The first, from 6-10 October, will take place in Atlanta in cooperation with the Georgia Archives. Another workshop will be held from 27-31 October in cooperation with the National Archives Southwest Region in Fort Worth, Texas. These workshops are designed for genealogists, historians, and librarians with a general genealogical or historical grounding who want to learn skills and techniques for researching original records at regional archives. To ensure a quality experience, enrollment is limited. Although these workshops will focus on records from the southeastern and southwestern United States, many of the record types are available at other state archives or NARA regional facilities. Activities will be held in the Atlanta area in a classroom at the new Georgia Archives, and the workshop at Fort Worth will meet at the NARA site. These locations allow attendees the opportunity for immediate on-site research to put to use the skills they learn in class. Workshop staff includes J. Mark Lowe, CG, Linda Woodward Geiger, CGRS, CGL, and Pamela Boyer Porter, CGRS, CGL, and expert staff members from the Georgia Archives and NARAs Southwest Region.
