Oklahoma Genealogical Society General Meeting May 3, 2002 The Oklahoma Genealogical Society general meeting Monday, May 5, at 6 p.m. will feature June Cornwell Stone who will speak on "Homesteaders and the Records They Left Behind." Her presentation will cover: the Homestead Act of 1862, patents and homestead papers and examples of the information they contain. June has more than 30 years of genealogical research experience spanning the continent and has served several years on the OGS Board of Directors. A speaker on a variety of subjects, she has been the guest lecturer at many societies in the state. She is currently Co-ordinator for First Families of the Twin Territories and is active in many lineage societies, i.e., 1889ERS Society, First Families of the Twin Territories, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. The meeting will be held at the Oklahoma Historical Society Auditorium at 2100 North Lincoln, Oklahoma City. This meeting is free and open to the public.
