The Minnesota Genealogical Society's Annual "Greater Minnesota" meeting is this Saturday, June 21 at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota. This beautiful campus in southwestern Minnesota, the Prairieland Genealogical Society and MGS welcome all genealogists. The cost is $10.00 and you may register at the door. You don't need to be a member of these societies to attend the meeting or to be eligible for the door prizes. Registration (and light refreshments) begins at 8:00 a.m. The topics for the day include a keynote address on the Civil War, beginning genealogy, digital cameras, historian's perspective on researching family history, U.S. census records, military records, passenger arrival records, and naturalization records. The sessions will be presented by a variety of speakers and there will be handout material for most sessions. There are sessions all day and the day ends at 4:00 p.m. There will be door prizes, genealogical freebies, vendors selling genealogical guidebooks, maps, forms, and more as well as display tables of genealogically related materials.
