The German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, September 6th at: Hicksville VFW HallPost 3211 320 South Broadway (Route 107) Hicksville, New York 11801 The program this month is 19th Century Germany: A Genealogical Overview with presenter Richard Haberstroh, CG, author of The German Churches of Metropolitan New York. The 19th century represents the period of greatest emigration out of Germany and it is therefore a time of great interest for many German-American family historians. This talk will address, among other things, the topics of geography, politics and religion in the context of how they affect the genealogists search for family information and how that information can be interpreted. An Orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7 PM and the regular meeting will start at 7:30. GGG members and guests will have access to the building beginning at 6:30 PM.
