The German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, September 4th at: Hicksville VFW HallPost 3211 320 South Broadway (Route 107) Hicksville, New York 11801 The program this month will feature Searching For My Roots: The Making of the Book with presenter Kenneth Bausert. Mr. Bausert will be demonstrating the steps involved in the process, which will allow you to assemble all of the pieces you have accumulated and create a lasting Family History record. Mr. Bausert was born and raised in Richmond Hill, Queens and has been a resident of East Meadow since 1973. He has had a varied career in business, photography, lecturing and writing. He became interested in genealogy around the time of his mothers death in 1980 and began his research on a casual basis. He has since self-published his own family history. If you have ever wanted to self-publish your family history, this is the program for you. An Orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7 PM and the regular meeting will start at 7:30. GGG members and guests will have access to the building beginning at 6:30 PM. Among the many benefits of GGG membership are a newsletter published ten times a year, a database of surnames, a free translation service, a book and CD lending library, interesting guest speakers at the meetings, mentoring, a start-up kit of helpful information and much more. We welcome all who are interested in researching their Germanic origins. There is no fee for guests and all are welcome.
