    2. Mike & June Everheart
    3. Native American Research Topic for ETGS Meeting Carolyn Earle Billingsley, Ph. D., noted research consultant and lecturer, will be the featured speaker at the East Texas Genealogical Society’s meeting on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium at the Tyler Public Library. Ms. Billingsley has almost thirty years experience in both genealogical and historical research, editing, writing, teaching, and lecturing and has a B.A. from the University of Arkansas and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Rice University in Houston. The title of her lecture will be “The Reality of Researching Your Indian Ancestors”. Past ETGS programs about Indian Research have included how to trace Five Civilized Tribe ancestry through the normal avenues, and many researchers have been disappointed not to find their ancestors there. Ms. Billingsley will introduce the reality of researching Indian ancestors not found on the official records and certain markers that the educated researcher can use to build a case for Indian ancestry. (http://www.cebillingsley.net/) To allow time for questions and answers from the audience, the Computer Interest Group will not meet in July. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. ETGS meetings are free and open to the public. For more information about ETGS go to our web-site: www.etgs.org or contact June Everheart, Publicity Director at 1stvp@etgs.org or (903)877-4501.
