    3. Only one week until the Annual Genealogical Workshop held by the Lake Co., IL Genealogical Society at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois (USA) THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE OF SPEAKERS !! Lloyd D. Bockstruck is unable to be at our workshop because of another commitment, but we have found an EXCELLANT REPLACEMENT!! Ryan Taylor, from the Allen County Public Library will present four lectures. 1. "Writing a Genealogical Biography When You Start with Nothing" - Writing about your ancestor can be intimidating, but this session will illustrate places you can find material to use in constructing a biography of a relative even though you think you don't know much. 2. "I Can't Find Anything" - This is a cry for help that we librarians hear often, but when we begin asking where people have actually looked, we find they haven't considered the alternatives. This session will be geared towards finding the maiden names of the female ancestors. 3. "Church Records: Beyond the BMDs" - This concerns what we can find in church records which are not baptismal, marriage or burial records. 4. "Newspaper Genealogy" - Newspapers contain a wealth of information useful to genealogists and this lecture will give you some ideas of where to find them and what to look for. Craig Pfannkuche will present 2 lectures: 1. "Genealogy Research in Chicago" - This presentation will consist of a description of and discussion as to the usefullness of both primary and secondary family history source research sites in Chicago as well as a commentary on the research value of each of the dozen or more sites mentioned. 2. "Researching Railroad Records" - This presentation will consist of a slide illustrated lecture on the reasons why railroad records need to be searched by most family historians. The archives of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Historical Society will be used as an example of why and how such records can be used. Maureen Brady will give 1 presentation: 1. "Getting the Most out of the FamilySearch Website" - Strategies for effective use of the LDS FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service will be presented. INcluded will be a "tour" of the major sections of the website and, using case studies, the development of effective research strategies. Registration fee is $38.00 for the day, which includes the lectures, a syllubus, coffee and donuts in the morning, and a catered lunch. There will be book vendors for you to browse between lectures, and door prizes as well. Come and join this exciting day.
