Janet, How well I know how upsetting this is! I use the self-serve center of the only local print shop in the area and pay .14 per side for 11*17 paper. That's for copy costs only. I do all the collating and labels for the envelopes, etc. On my last visit to print the Fall 97 issue of The Southside Researcher, I was told that they are upgrading the equipment and will be increasing the copy costs. My quarterly is $19.95 a year and I've steadily been trying to upgrade and improve the quality of it and stay within my budget at the same time. I've been wanting to do things like add sketches and art and bind the issues in some type of cover that would be more durable and attractive. The one thing that I have found is that the local college in the area charges .05 a side for 8.5*11 pages. If I don't have to give on print quality, I may have to go this route instead. I thought that I would add preparing the newsletter ahead with pre-punched holes so that my subscribers could easily slip the issue into a binder. What's the opinion on staples? Which is preferred: three staples along the edge or one in the corner for a newsletter averaging 20 pages? Pamela G.
