Hello! It is so good that this list is becoming active! I am new to the printing genealogy newsletter business (My first edition was dated June 1997; am working on the September edition now), and was hoping to learn a lot from this group! My first printing job sent to Kinkos. Since this newsletter is being sent for free as a sample of future issues, I received more orders than I had printed newsletters. I sent the second batch to a local copy shop, which was slightly less expensive. I then realized that I could get it much cheaply at Staples, and plan to go there for the September edition. I use clip art and quotes to keep the newsletter lively and interesting; these items will require good photocopying. A few questions: What is the average size of a genealogy newsletter? I have been limiting Evans Events to twelve pages (six pages double sided) to keep the mailing costs to one stamp. The anniversary issue will be larger since it will include an index, and other special features. What is the average price? What is the average frequency? (I plan to print quarterly.) Is it cheaper to print on 11x17 paper rather than 8 1/2 X 11? HOW DO YOU GET MORE SUBSCRIBERS? Any other tips for a beginner? Thank you for your advice. Shelina Virjee Evans Events
