    3. Dear Listers We have a brand new HP computer running Windows XP with a dialup connection. We are having a lot of trouble getting and keeping a connection to the Internet. Often we have to dial twice to connect with the ISP. Then while surfing, we get a lot of " The page cannot be displayed." Some days it works just fine. Do you think it's the ISP? Do you think I should try "removing" the modem in the Device Manager? Joan

    3. Joan, What you describe seems to be an ISP problem. I would contact them and follow their advice. Also check the HP web site and make sure you have the latest driver for the modem. "Removing" the modem would be a last resort, if your ISP are unable to help. Seeing that your computer is new, there is a possibility that the modem could be faulty. But since it seems to be working some of the time, that would be your very last resort (to contact HP for technical support and a possible replacement).
