Do you have MS Word installed? If you do the spell checker is part of that. However, it may not be configured to enable you to use it in Outlook Express. These sites will give you the necessary steps (they apply to Win XP by the way): http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm, http://www.theeldergeek.com/oe_spellcheck.htm, or try this one: http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html (all are basically the same) And if that does not work for you, there is a free spell checker for OE available here: http://www.geocities.com/vampirefo/ This spell-checker will work with all Windows applications. Anything that supports the clipboard supports FreeSpell, and all it takes is a hotkey to invoke it. You may find this an option if all else fails: http://hcidesign.com/freespell/ Lance -----Original Message----- From: Boothey [mailto:Boothall@westnet.com.au] Sent: Friday, 18 June 2004 14:03 To: GEN-COMP-TIPS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Gen-Comp-Tips] SPELL CHECKER Hi List. 3. Ok, Jill, now we know what track you are on (that always helps :-)). Regardless of your Windows version you do need to have a version of MS Word installed to access the Microsoft Spell Checker. You didn't mention if you have MS Word installed - do you? If you do have it, open MS Word and check to see if spell checker is enabled. The other thing to check is your computer's language setting. Make sure it is set to ENGLISH (AU). These sites may give you some technical help, if you are confident about editing the Registry and do have MS Word (both are Microsoft sites): http://tinyurl.com/evw4 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;224176 If you don't have MS Word (or MS Works even), you will have to use one of the free OE Spell checkers recommended. http://www.geocities.com/vampirefo/ http://hcidesign.com/freespell/ Lance -----Original Message----- From: Boothey [mailto:Boothall@westnet.com.au] Sent: Sunday, 20 June 2004 18:12 To: GEN-COMP-TIPS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Gen-Comp-Tips] SPELL CHECKER Hi Lance, i have outlook express windows 98.
