    1. Re: [Gen-Comp-Tips] (Gen-Comp-Tips) Programme from Win98 to XP
    2. Hello Heather There is a fix for this, but I can't remember the details. It was something to do with the speed at which more modern computers with the XP operate. It was too fast for UFT. I got the instructions from the UFT mailing list. It involved downloading a patch and then carrying out a few DOS instructions. I did this about 15 months ago and now UFT operates fine. I had UFT Version 2.2 and needed to upgrade to Version 2.9 first before I could apply the patch. I really am sorry, but I can't remember the exact instructions, having recently gone through a very stressful time nursing a terminally ill husband. It seemed to be a regular question on the UFT list. I like you am very reluctant to lose UFT with nearly 2,000 people in my tree. I did try exporting the gedcom to Family Tree Maker, but only the basic(BMD) details transferred over. All my extra events like employment, address, census details did not transfer. I still do think that eventually I will have to bite the bullet and find a new programme, since UFT no longer has techinical support. best wishes, GAY Gay J Oliver, Stalybridge, Cheshire,UK http://members.aol.com/victoroly/genealogy.htm http://members.aol.com/gayjoliver/Tameside.htm http://www.fhsc.org.uk/fhsc/dukinfield.htm
