It's 3:11 A.M. in Texas, and here I sit in front of my computer, and guess what ..... Microsoft XP Download is Highlighted in Red. I went in to read about it again, and it is ready to download. The instructions are telling me that I need to sit in attendance while it is downloading, (in the background),and answering any questions, etc. My Dial-Up Provider has added on a new dial-up add-on for $5.00 more a month, and I subscribed, and the difference it has made is unbelievable, so this will make the download much easier. Microsoft is telling me that I need to backup my programs, etc. I backed up my computer when I purchased it 3 months ago, etc. Question: Is it time to do this? Should I wait? Please respond. Thanks, Janet

Seems strange! >My Dial-Up Provider has added on a new dial-up add-on for $5.00 more a >month, and I subscribed, and the difference it has made is unbelievable, >so this will make the download much easier. > >Microsoft is telling me that I need to backup my programs, etc. I backed >up my computer when I purchased it 3 months ago, etc. Again this is strange. MS updates create their own backup as they install. Even SP2 does this. >Question: Is it time to do this? Should I wait? It is always a good idea to have a recent backup of you system. How often this is done is a matter of preference. Before downloading and installing this notification you got, I would explore it more, it just doesn't sound right to me. Go to the Windows Update page and see what you are missing for you system. Art
