Is it common for dial-up service for you to get dropped off often? I subscribe to a local telephone company and I'm getting dropped off some times 6 times an hour. More than that after 4 p.m. From 6pm to 7 pm today it's been 9 times Thanks Pat

Have you complained to your ISP or to the telephone company? Do you have call waiting? The ISP may be dropping you if you are not active for a period of time. You telephone line may be opening up long enough to drop you and does not automatically reconnect. I would look into a new ISP. bob gillis
I had a lot of problem with being disconnected one time and it turned out to be the phone line, got that fixed and all is well since. Phone company will be hard to convince and threaten high service call if problem turns out to be inside you house, unless you have in-house coverage. Using something like GetRite will help pick up where left off when interrupted while downloading. Walt Conner >Have you complained to your ISP or to the telephone company?
