    3. Pat, >Is it common for dial-up service for you to get dropped off often? I >subscribe to a local telephone company and I'm getting dropped off some >times 6 times an hour. More than that after 4 p.m. From 6pm to 7 pm today >it's been 9 times It is not uncommon. Especially if your are not doing anything or just downloading something. You ISP sees this as "idle" time and cuts you off for lack of activity to free up the connection. There are several little programs that you could run to show your ISP activity. What they do is send a "ping" command to the server which shows you are doing something. Mostly all of these type of programs are free. Do a 'google' search on keep dial up connection alive and take your pick. Some work better than others for different ISPs. So it is mostly a trial and error as to which one will work best for you. Hope this helps? Art
