I've had dial-up for 6yrs now and have never been disconnected unless the service was having problems (rare). However I have heard complaints about this type of thing from people on various mailing lists to which I subscribe. I subscribe to a local telephone company and I'm getting dropped off some times 6 times an hour. More than that after 4 p.m. From 6pm to 7 pm today it's been 9 times Thanks Pat ==== GEN-COMP-TIPS Mailing List ==== To unsubscribe from this list send a message to GEN-COMP-TIPS-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM with the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message. ============================== Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. I think some of it depends of where you live, and what phone service your ISP has or which service you use, or maybe which service payment plan you are using with your ISP. and maybe how many modems the ISP has, in my small town of 3200 people, I don't think there is one *ISP in this* town, while there are several in the college town 10 miles away.We are in a rural area of Texas, My ISP does drop me off,at times, and some times it get very annoying, to say the least. But, I use them because they have been here longer than most of the others, and I believe they are the most knowledgeable of the bunch.; they have a payment plan for Seniors, which I am,and they are pleasant to work with. They now are offering DSL, but I don't know that I will change over, as one person stated on this list, I might not have the brass, since we are living on a pension, and it just stretches so far.
