Yes, PKZip has been around for a very long time (1986). Early versions of PAF used it as part of the setup routine. However, I believe PKZip and WinZip have always been produced by different companies. They are both still available from those companies: http://www.pkware.com/ http://www.winzip.com Lance -----Original Message----- From: Ken Quinn [mailto:director@montrealirishparade.com] Sent: Sunday, 22 August 2004 06:45 To: GEN-COMP-TIPS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Gen-Comp-Tips] Which file compression program is best/free? I've been using WinZip since before there was a Windows version. Prior to the Windows it was called PKZIP. I've never had a problem with it and continue to use it. Can we actually say which file compression software is "best"? I don't think so. We all have our own opinions on the subject, as we have seen the last few days. Regards, Ken Quinn --- avast!
