That can happen as the battery is running down. At least that is what I have noticed with mine. Get some batteries at the ready, it will just suddenly quit working. I have found if I leave my batteries in all the time they last 2-3 weeks, sometimes more. By taking them out each time I have turned the computer off, they last longer.
