Hi, I do not understand. I use XP professional with Outlook as my e-mail client. I also have Outlook Express - but I don't use it for e-mail - it's there in case I can help a relation who does use it. I have set updates to accept all the important ones. They arrive once a month - on a Tuesday if I remember correctly. Often (always?) Microsoft issue an e-mail explaining what the updates will contain. I have never had any problems with this auto-update. There was one occasion where the computer took ages to shutdown since it was installing a large update - and I was in a hurry to leave - but that wasn't the fault of my computer or Microsoft. I can't remember receiving daily updates. I suspect that this is a monthly update that the computer couldn't install and it keeps trying every time you reboot. Have you looked on the Microsoft web-site for guidance? Chris
