I too bought an Epson Perfection 2580 scanner and completely agree with Nancy's comments, except I have not tried scanning negatives. It was priced under $200.00 (don't remember the exact amount) but I have not been happy with it, doesn't do a very good job. I first tried an old slide then I took a new negative and it was still not a sharp and clear picture. It does a great job printing pictures that I have accumulated on the computer such as from the digital camera or received in the mail or even when I scanned a photo. It seems to go thru ink cartridges terribly fast too but you can buy the colors individually if desired. Nancy
