Do you have the original Windows ME disks (which may have come with the computer)? You could always start with a complete fresh install from those. That would erase all your data, so be sure you have a backup of everything! If you're going to do a complete reinstall, a suggestion might be to install a brand-new (but inexpensive) hard drive and install the ME to that, keeping the Windows XP and the data on the other drive. (Tho why anyone would WANT to install Windows ME is beyond me. But that's your business!)
