    3. I am very confused. I have today enrolled for H P online classes in Word 2003 starting shortly. However, I can't find Word 2003 on my laptop. I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv5157eu, which comes with Microsoft Works. I have contacted HP regarding this issue, but don't really understand the reply I received. Cut and pasted below:- I understand from your email that you have an HP Pavilion dv5157eu Notebook and you want details about Microsoft 2003. Rita, I would like to inform you that since the Microsoft is installed on your notebook you can continue learning Microsoft 2003 which is the basic course and will be useful to use Microsoft office. However, you can download the trial version of Microsoft 2003 from the web site given . Rita, I will refer you a document on our HP web site which has all the troubleshooting steps to be performed to resolve this issue.Instead of sending this document in a text format, we are referring you to the Web, where this information is easier to read with graphics. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00764322&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1848243&dlc=en&lang=en#N742 Can someone please tell me if I will be able to partake in the HP course on Word 2003, with my particular notebook. kind regards Rita _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters

    3. Rita, it sounds as if Word 2003 did not come on your new computer. They used to bundle it with new computers, but once they got firmly positioned in the market, they don't need to do that any more. The word processor in Microsoft Works is a watered down, feature-poor version of Word, much like WordPad or NotePad. It will probably not have the features being taught in your course. If you want to use Word 2003, you will have to buy it, either as a stand-alone or in the Office Suite 2003. :>( Judy in Ocala -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rita Barfield Sent: Friday, November 03, 2006 8:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Word 2003 versus Microsoft Works I am very confused. 3. Hi Judy Very early versions of Works had an inferior word processor but for several years now it contains a standard version of Word, usually these Works suites given away are a couple of years old but still similar to the later versions. 3. Hi Judy, Just as I thought. Thanks for your reply, which was easy for me to understand. My son has Word 2000 but not 2003, not sure whether I will bother with the course after all. kind regards Rita >Rita, it sounds as if Word 2003 did not come on your new computer.
