AFAIK, MS Works had WORD as its word processor. I would think you have an icon on your Desktop that says Microsoft WORKS or Microsoft WORD. When I installed MS Office I got a Word Icon and an Excel Icon. I would think Works would have the same setup. bob gillis > >I have contacted HP regarding this issue, but don't really understand the >reply I received. >Cut and pasted below:- > >I understand from your email that you have an HP Pavilion dv5157eu >Notebook and you want details about Microsoft 2003. >Rita, I would like to inform you that since the Microsoft is installed >on your notebook you can continue learning Microsoft 2003 which is the >basic course and will be useful to use Microsoft office. I thought someone gave you a url for a MS online course in WORD2003. The above URL is about problems instlling MS Office which you do not have unless you paid extra for it. bob gillis

    3. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/CR061958171033.aspx Hi Bob, Yes, recently a lister gave me the above link for a Microsoft tutorial in Word. However, when it comes to downloading the Practice papers, I receive the message:- """"Microsoft Office Word 2003 was not found To download and use this practice file, you need to have Microsoft Office Word 2003 installed on your computer. This program was not found on your computer. However, you can continue with the rest of the course if you want."" Because of the above, I thought I would take up HP offer of online tutorials in Word 2003, but I am concerned the same problem will occur. I have Microsoft Works Version 8, with a word processor, but the courses only talk about WORD 2003. Thank you for your patience and assistance. regards Rita >From: bob gillis <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [GEN-COMP-TIPS] Word 2003 versus Microsoft Works >Date: Fri, 03 Nov 2006 09:48:20 -0500 > > > >Rita Barfield wrote: > > >I am very confused. > > > >I have today enrolled for H P online classes in Word 2003 starting >shortly. > > > >However, I can't find Word 2003 on my laptop. 3. I understand that Works is a very cheap version of WORD, and not the same thing. It sounds like noone has clearly explained that to you. If this class you are taking works on Works it is either because what you need to use is really on teh course CD, or because Works has the features the course teaches, which may be very basic features. Most public library computers have WORD installed on them, and some even teach classes on WORD. But I learned WORD by using it.
