I know there is some place on my computer where I can tell it not to have some programs running in the background on startup. But, I have not been able to find it. I am running Windows XP and have just loaded my Corel WordPerfect programs but don't want them running in the background. Can someone Please tell me how to find this tool so I can turn them off. Hi Janet -- It sounds like you have things installed on your startup menu that need to be removed to another folder. How to check this is to left click on the Start button, then click on Programs, then click on Startup and you should see a listing of what is in there. You can then drag them out of Startup and place them in another folder. If they are in the registry to run automatically, then that procedure won't work. But, hopefully, they aren't.
