Every time I back up my genealogy data to a CD, problems occur. When I try to upload my FTM files or even some Word file, often it says the file is damaged and won't open. Yet when I burnt the disc it always says its OK. Maybe the problem arises when I start burning, a window opens saying that the file names are not right and can it fix them. I always say yes and it seems to be the very long files that are in sub/sub/sub/folders, hidden in the depths of the PC. I've not been able to check whether they are the files that don't open as they flash away so fast. I'm using a Sony rewriter and Roxio Easy 6.0. "genlistlass" in UK
