    1. [Gen-Comp-Tips] E-mail????
    2. Rose Core
    3. I have noticed that I have received e-mails from a particular party; however, my name or my e-mail address is not among the addressees. My friend's e-mail address is among the addresses, but not mine. I don't understand how I am able to receive e-mail when I am not among the addressees. I am just a bit concerned and confused about how this works. I am wondering if my e-mail could be going out to others that I do not address. ????? Thanks for your response. Rose

    3. Rose, most likely the sender has placed your address in the "BCC:" address field. This hides the address or addresses of any recipients so that the other recipients do not know you (or others) have received that particular message. This, incidentally, is a good way of forwarding messages to a large number of people. All the addresses are hidden and if, by chance, the same message is forwarded again by one of those recipients, none of those original addresses are passed on. Think of the number of times you have probably received messages with a multitude of addresses in the "TO:" field. Think of the consequences if that message eventually ended up in the hands of a spammer! Make it a rule: if you are writing one message to several individuals place ALL the addresses in the "BCC:" field. This protects everyone's privacy. 3. Lance, That could certainly be the answer. Since I am not accustomed to receiving e-mail from this person, I thought it was strange to get any e-mail, but what you explained makes sense. Also, I do like the idea of not sending addresses. I generally delete all the previous addresses in mail that I send, but bcc's are an even better idea, as I prefer the protection of privacy. Thanks for the enlightenment!!!!!
