It involves a bit of Registry editing so make sure you back-up FIRST! http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q228502 If you are not comfortable with editing the Registry, you may be able to eliminate it by click START|RUN and typing MSCONFIG in the "Run" box and clicking OK. On the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY window that opens, click the START-UP tab. Look for an entry for Explorer and untick it and click OK.
