    3. David, you need to filter your mail BEFORE you download it. Once you have it in OE for your "message rules" to work on, you have done what the spammers wanted to know. You have confirmed your address as legitimate. You will find quite a number of links to the topic of hiding your e-mail address on this site: http://spam.abuse.net/userhelp/#hide One of the better preventive measures with addresses is not to use a name in the address. Spammers not only harvest addresses, they are also very creative in building addresses from names. Therefore you can confuse them somewhat by using a "nonsense" address - one that literally means nothing. A good program to use to filter your mail is Mailwasher PRO. There is a free version available, but it will only handle one account. The PRO version handles as many as you wish. You can even use it to filter downloads of Hotmail or Yahoo Mail if you have those accounts. I suspect that much of this arises from the fact that my email address has been published on various web-sites, including my own. I believe that it is possible to hide email addresses from those who harvest them from web-sites using a Java script. If anyone knows how this is done and whether or not it is successful, I would be pleased to hear from them. Many thanks, David --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean.
